Title:Fluid flows and partial differential equations
Seminar:Marker Lecture Series
Speaker:Professor Vladimir Sverak, University of Minnesota
Many fluid flows which we encounter everyday are described by Navier-Stokes equations, which were derived in the first half of the 19th century. The equations for ideal fluid go back to a 1757 paper by Euler. In this lecture we explain why these equation remain very challenging from both theoretical and computational points of view and discuss some recent theoretical results.
